Keep rocks, grit, dried paint and other potentially hazardous contaminants from getting into your pump and causing serious trouble by replacing your rock screen (aka inlet strainer) often. A good strainer will filter out any damaging particles while still flowing well enough to keep the pump's gun well fed with paint. These must be replaced often so it's always a good idea to keep a few extras on hand.
